Faculty Position in Applied Veterinary Medicine for Small Animals (Zoological or Community Medicine)

The Department of Clinical Sciences fosters the advancement of clinical knowledge through innovative research, with the goal of ensuring a quality education for future veterinarians and veterinary specialists.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Through your undergraduate and graduate-level teaching, and your research activities, you will contribute to the faculty’s pursuit of excellence. Furthermore, you will promote your discipline and actively participate in the daily activities of a renowned institution. As such, you will:
- Teach applied veterinary medicine for small animals (including aspects of zoological or community medicine), and participate in the training of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the continuing education of veterinarians;
- Participate in clinical teaching to DMV students and, if necessary, graduate students (including interns and residents);
- Supervise graduate students;
- Develop innovative and autonomous research axes in the field of small animals, of zoological or community medicine;
- Contribute to the visibility of the discipline (publications, conferences, scientific activities, and others), including participation in various community services in the field;
- Contribute to the functioning of the Faculty and the University through participation in committees and working groups.
Qualifications
- Hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent;
- Sc. or equivalent (relevant research achievements);
- Have successfully completed a residency in a discipline recognized by an American or European College in the field of small animals or zoological medicine and be a diplomate of said college, while possessing expertise or interest in community medicine. Training in shelter or community medicine, as well as certification from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) – Specialty in Shelter Medicine Practice, are an assets;
- Holding a Ph. D. is an asset;
- Demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality academic teaching and research;
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the province of Quebec (Canada) issued by the Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec;
- Have adequate proficiency of the French language or be committed to learning it once hired, through the Université de Montréal’s French language support program, in accordance with the Université de Montréal language policy.
