About the Role
About the Role
The purpose of this job is to drive, oversee and lead development and delivery of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD)’s research portfolio, working closely with QMUL Director of Research and Innovation and FMD’s Dean’s for Research and Research Impact. The postholder will be part of the VP (Health) team playing a strategic, leading role in development and delivery of the Faculty’s research strategy.
About You
We are looking for a proactive, initiative-driven, creative individual who will apply their management experience to advance the research strategy. We are seeking an individual who is committed to developing and delivering the highest quality and most relevant health-related research programmes.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent, with experience of research management, strategy, proposal and bid development within academia, coordinating and contributing to multi-partner, multi-organisational funding bids, expert working knowledge of the UK research funding and regulatory landscape, supporting the development of commercial research partnerships and/or research portfolio within a health context and line management experience in a research environment.

FMD offers international excellence in research and teaching and supports clinical service for a population of unrivalled ethnic diversity in East London and the wider Thames Gateway. At the forefront of medical research and education, with research themes in cancer, cardiovascular medicine, inflammation, trauma and population health. As a Faculty, we are ranked 5th in the world for quality of research and 9th in the world for international outlook in clinical and health (THE World University Rankings 2024). In the 2024 QS World Rankings we are 57th in Medicine and 16th in Dentistry.
