Faculty Vacancy in Multi-Genre Performance and Improvisation
The Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Multi-Genre Performance and Improvisation beginning with the 2026–27 academic year.
Responsibilities:
- Instruction of courses in multi-genre performance and improvisation.
- Direct ensembles consisting of unique combinations of jazz majors and students from other areas of the Conservatory and College.
- Participation in auditions, examinations and meetings as scheduled;
- Participation in faculty performances, recordings, etc.
- Participation in recruitment efforts and activities.
Required qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellence as a teacher, lecturer, and ensemble director.
- Significant professional experience, as evidenced by performances, recordings, publications, articles, or other pertinent materials in musical styles such as jazz and adjacent styles and other musical settings that emphasize improvisation and non-notated music (i.e. various types of folk music from around the world).
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or commensurate experience.
