Position Summary:

The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

The School of Music at Western Carolina University seeks a dynamic Assistant Director of Athletic Bands to help facilitate the direction and organization of the university athletic band program, including the nationally renowned Sudler award winning Pride of the Mountains Marching Band and pep bands. Working in a close professional relationship with the Director of Athletic Bands, candidates should demonstrate the ability to work with and support POTM in a safe, student-focused, and professional manner that maintains our high-performance standards, as well as co-conduct the Cathouse Basketball Band.

This is a 12-month, on-site, leave earning, fixed term faculty assignment at the rank of Assistant Professor, with teaching responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the School of Music based on their expertise and experience. Concert band and/or other conducting responsibilities may be available depending upon qualifications. Anticipated begin date of 7/1/2025.
