Location
Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.
Job Summary
The Library Student Assistant will serve under the direction of a librarian or permanent library employee, assisting in the daily and evening operations of the ASU Libraries.
Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities
- Conduct library pickups to keep the library seating and tables in order.
- Keep keyboards and mice clean.
- Assist library patrons with minimal technology and library resources.
- Check books in and out using the ALMA Library System.
- Assist departments with internal work such as book processing and shelving.
- Manage the security desk throughout the library. Encourage students to follow library rules that are posted.
- Notify the librarian or permanent employee of any incidents or problems.
- Deliver and pick up campus mail and small packages from other departments.
- General office work, shelving books, working with discards and inventory.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a current Albany State student enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours.
- Must be friendly and helpful to library patrons and have good communication skills.
- Assist with other library projects such as inventory, collection weeding, etc.
- Must be available to work on both East and West campuses when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Some nights and weekend schedules are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Must be able to type and acquire knowledge and use of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Must be able to alphabetize accurately to shelve books by call number.
