Position DescriptionThe Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) Bionics Lab (
https://bioniclab.seas.harvard.edu/) is seeking a highly motivated Fellow to support preclinical neuroengineering research and device development. The Fellow will play a central role in planning and executing animal studies, testing emerging bioelectronic and assistive devices, and maintaining the operational readiness of a preclinical research environment.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys hands-on experimental work and can take ownership of the coordination required for rigorous, well-documented preclinical studies. The Fellow will work closely with engineers, neuroscientists, and clinicians on translational research projects involving neural interfaces, rehabilitation technologies, and bioelectronic systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and carry out animal studies, including animal handling, behavioral experiments, and preclinical device testing.
Support development, organization, and execution of IACUC protocols, amendments, training records, and study documentation.Coordinate study timelines, procedures, equipment, supplies, and data collection to ensure smooth operation of the preclinical testing space.Assist with surgical and non-surgical experimental procedures, as appropriate to training and approved protocols.Collect, organize, analyze, and document behavioral, physiological, and device-performance data.Maintain accurate experimental records; prepare reports, figures, and materials for manuscripts, presentations, and protocol updates.Help ensure that all animal research activities follow approved protocols, institutional requirements, and animal welfare standards.Contribute to the design, troubleshooting, and iterative refinement of preclinical devicesWhy Join Us?This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to

Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Physiology,
Neuroscience, Biology, or a closely related field.
Additional Qualifications- At least two years of relevant research experience.
- Prior hands-on experience with animal handling and behavioral experiments.
- Experience working with animal research protocols and/or animal-research compliance documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several experimental activities in a fast-paced research environment.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.- Experience with preclinical device development, neural interfaces, bioelectronics, rehabilitation technologies, or related translational research.
- Experience with small- or large-animal studies, surgical support, electrophysiology, or physiological data collection
- anyone going to veterinary school or comparative animal medicine would also be considered
