Finance Administrative Officer: Income Support

THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and fast paced Finance Department within the Income Team.

In this key role, you will support the Income Team Manager by providing high quality administrative support to students and customers, ensuring timely collection of income. You will help students set up student loans or payment plans as soon as possible after enrolment and provide advice on fee payment options via phone, email, and in person.

While the focus is on supporting students before debt occurs, the role also includes credit control duties. You will contact students with outstanding fees, assess financial circumstances, negotiate payment plans, monitor arrangements, keep accurate records, and recommend further action—including referral to external debt collection agencies—when required.

You will also help develop initiatives to raise awareness of debt implications, such as drop in sessions and support at Registration and Open Days. Effective collaboration with internal departments and external partners, including the Student Loans Company, will be essential.

You should have experience in an office environment, strong IT skills, excellent attention to detail, and confidence working with data. Strong communication skills, the ability to prioritise under pressure, and a sympathetic yet focused approach to debt collection are key. You should also be able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and be willing to learn new systems.

The role is based at our Carmarthen campus, with occasional travel to Swansea as required.
