Position Title Financial Aid Support Specialist Position Type Staff Department Student Affairs FLSA Non-Exempt Union/Non Union Union Full Time or Part Time Full Time Grade 6 Salary Range Hiring Salary Range $34,496-$37,946/Annually Fixed Term/Tenure Track (Faculty Only) Regular or Temporary Regular Job Description Summary Maintain a comprehensive basic knowledge of all federal, institutional, and state policies, procedures, and regulations. Greet visitors, address student questions and needs, route students to coordinators appropriately. Maintain daily intake count of students who visit the office or schedule virtual appointments through navigate. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Two years of customer service experience working with a diverse population required, preferably in a community college or higher education setting.
- Associate degree preferred
- Serves as first line of interaction for parents and students entering the financial aid office. (Office average over 800 visitors a day).
- Provides general financial aid information in keeping with federal regulations, application, and office processes and procedures.
- Review incoming documents for accuracy for over 15,000 applicants.
- Retrieves message and return phone calls.
- Maintains adequate supply of applications, brochures, and other information in public area.
- Provide assistance to students completing the FAFSA application on the web.
- Completes and certifies all third-party verification forms including secondary confirmation requests such as Department of Rehabilitation Services and consortium agreements.
- Assist with document imaging and posting documents to the college database, Colleague.
- Assist with call campaigns to support registration efforts
- Assist with undeliverable funds reports
- Assist with the presentation of financial aid workshops.
- Assist students with the application process
- Provides optimal customer service.
- Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge of working with automated systems.
- Ability to produce material accurately and in a timely manner through the use of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to perform detailed work independently, as well as in the team environment.
- Working knowledge of Colleague or another financial aid management system is preferred.
- Knowledge of standard office software and the ability to navigate computer systems efficiently
- Customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
- As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
- A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
