Learn more about the great benefits of working for University of Utah: benefits.utah.edu Responsibilities - Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and other required monthly and quarterly financial reports. - Participate in the implementation and ongoing application of GASB pronouncements. - Support monthly, and year-end close processes by ensuring assigned accounting activities are completed accurately and on schedule. - Partner with departments to resolve accounting questions, improve transaction accuracy, and provide guidance on appropriate accounting treatment. - Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, reduce manual work, and improve consistency. - Support the setup, maintenance, and integrity of the chart of accounts, chartfields, and general ledger structure - Contribute to responses to external auditor inquiries in a timely and accurate manner Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Financial Reporting Analyst, III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience. Preferences - Experience assisting in the preparation and/or review of financial statements. - Understanding GASB rules and guidelines. - Candidates who are CPA-eligible, per the State of Utah Division of Occupational Licensing rules, and are willing to sit for the exams. - Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, data validation, and analysis of large data sets.
