FT Assistant Professor - English
Job Summary
Teach courses in English, consistent with current developments in the discipline and teaching methods. Participate in program/department meetings and divisional/college-wide committees with a focus on continual improvement of programs and learning outcomes. Participate in curriculum and course development, course and program coordination, tutoring and advising students, mentoring and reviewing peers, and College initiatives. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy. This position requires face-face teaching on LCC campuses as needed; regular on-campus presence is expected. *Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.* *Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.*
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university in Rhetoric, Composition, Creative Writing, English, Literature, or Linguistics, or an interdisciplinary master’s degree or higher (from a regionally accredited college or university) that combines a focus in any of the listed fields. Significant experience teaching community college writing or significant experience teaching First Year Composition at a 4-year college or university. Experience with learning management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Rhetoric, Composition, Writing, English, Literature, or an MFA in Creative Writing. Experience with online course design. Coursework in rhetoric and composition theory and pedagogy. Coursework or teaching experience in gender/ race theory or critical discourse analysis. Experience teaching co-requisite/developmental composition courses. Experience teaching Children’s Literature, African American Literature, Business Writing, Technical Writing, and/or Media Studies. Experience in course and program-wide assessment. Experience in curriculum development.
