"FT Journeyman Electrician"

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Journeyman Electrician is to Install, Maintain, & Repair Electrical systems and equipment of College facilities following recognized procedures and techniques of the Electrical trade. The Journeyman Electrician will also Direct College Hired Contractors, coordinate work with other trades and participate in meetings and review College projects. Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community. Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years’ experience with a State of Michigan Journeyman Electrical License.
• Three years’ experience installing, maintaining & trouble shooting electrical systems & controls.
• Commercial and industrial construction or maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated experience working with generators, transformers, switches, panel boards, motors, VFD’s, lighting controls, and motor controls.
• Must have 3 points or less on driving record with a valid MI driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of fire alarm installation/troubleshooting, security installation/troubleshooting, and automated building control systems and devices.
• Ability to interpret and apply blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals, and assembly instructions.
• Demonstrated Electrician experience working on a school, college, or university campus.

Hours Per Week: 40 Hours

Compensation Type: Hourly Salary

New Hire Starting Pay: $34.84 - $39.94 (This rate of pay is effective July 6th, 2025).
