Full Professor and Chair of the Adaptation Physiology Group
Job Summary
Wageningen University & Research is recruiting a full professor to lead the Adaptation Physiology chair group. The group studies how adaptation to a changing environment impacts the health, welfare, and resilience of domesticated and captive animals, focusing on livestock species through a multidisciplinary approach including energy metabolism, immunology, reproduction, and behavior.
Responsibilities
As Chair, you are responsible for the group’s research, education, and operational management, including finances and human resources. This involves leading a team of over 50 members, fostering scientific cohesion, developing strategic plans for sustainable farming systems, attracting funding, maintaining international networks, and contributing to societal debates through media and communication.
Qualifications and Requirements
You must hold a PhD with an internationally proven track record in physiology (e.g., energy metabolism, immunology, reproduction) and behavior, focused on domesticated animals. You need experience in leading multidisciplinary teams, providing inclusive leadership, developing long-term strategies, attracting national and international funding, engaging in BSc, MSc, and PhD education, and supervising students and staff in an international context.
What the Employer Offers
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from €6998 to €10441 per month, an end-of-year bonus, holiday allowance, pension plan, and support for work-life balance with flexible hours (32-38 per week).
