We are seeking to appoint an individual with an outstanding academic profile in the field of historical education. The successful candidate is expected to represent the field comprehensively in both teaching and research, and to contribute to its further development through both theoretical and empirical approaches.

The professorship is expected to focus on historical perspectives on educational, upbringing, and socialization processes and analyzes their embedding in social transformation dynamics in a theory-driven manner. The position should contribute to the university’s research profiles "Knowledge Cultures and Education" and/or "Transformation". The willingness to collaborate with the Center for School and Educational Research (ZSB) and/or the Interdisciplinary Centre for European Enlightenment Studies (IZEA) and participation in MLU's internationalisation strategy are highly desirable.

Experience in securing third-party funding and in interdisciplinary collaboration is required. Applicants must hold an above-average relevant doctoral degree and demonstrate additional academic achievements in the relevant profile area of the professorship in educational science (e.g., habilitation or equivalent academic qualification). The teaching responsibilities associated with the position are part of the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Educational Science. The successful candidate must be able to teach in German. Furthermore, a willingness to participate in academic self-governance and committee work is expected. Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.

Applicants need to fulfill the pre-conditions of appointment as stipulated in section 35 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. Particular emphasis is placed on a habilitation in the relevant field, or an equivalent level of scientific achievement and recognition. Candidates are expected to have attained the appropriate level of experience or qualification in teaching.
