"Full Professorship (W3) for Cardiovascular medicine in Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg"

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) for Cardiovascular medicine in Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (Chair: Prof. Dr. med. Hartmut Bürkle) to be filled as soon as possible.

The future professorship will become simultaneously the responsible chair of the section of anaesthesiology related cardiovascular perioperative medicine within the department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. She/he will be covering both sites of the Medical Center - University of Freiburg and of the department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. The chair position will eventually be promoted to the chair position of the department of Anaesthesiology related cardiovascular perioperative medicine, positive track evaluation being mandatory.

The professorship has special significance for the field of cardiovascular anaesthesia and intensive care medicine in the entire field of perioperative medicine. The clinic covers the entire spectrum of the subject, including heart transplantation, EMACH patients, assist-device surgery and pediatric heart anesthesia.

Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree in medicine, a very good dissertation, an excellent publication record and a board certification (Facharztanerkennung) in anaesthesiology. Specific requirements like cardiovascular intensive care medicine, fellowships in cardiovascular anesthesiology or a proven specialization in perioperative echocardiography are welcomed. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
