Full Professorship (W3) for experimental neurosurgery
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) for experimental neurosurgery in the department of Neurosurgery (Medical Director: Prof. Dr. J. Beck) to be filled as soon as possible. The future holder of this position will represent experimental neurosurgery in research and teaching and will be a section leader. The future holder should have a strong scientific track record in the field of experimental neurosurgery. The further strengthening of the focus on brain tumors and epilepsy is desirable. The aim is to develop key areas of translational research into brain diseases and to establish an innovative research focus on the cellular and molecular basis of developing human brain models to understand brain diseases. The professorship is expected to collaborate closely with the Center of Advanced Surgical Tissue Analysis (CAST). Central tasks include close cooperation within established research structures (Neurosurgery, Neuropathology, Neurology, and Neuroanatomy), their further development, and the coordination of preclinical research. A willingness to work closely with the medical faculty’s institutions and with university and non-university partners within the framework of existing and future collaborative research areas, and other scientific collaborative projects is required. We expect a high level of commitment to academic teaching and a willingness to co-develop innovative teaching concepts within the framework of the Freiburg Curriculum. Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree in Medicine or Life Sciences, a very good dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
