POSITION DESCRIPTION

KIMEP University, the leading American-style university in Central Asia, invites applications for full-time faculty positions at Department of Mathematics, School of Computer Science and Mathematics (SCSM), offers two undergraduate programs in Computer Science and Information Systems. We welcome passionate educators and researchers to join our growing international team to help shape the future of computing education in the region. Responsibilities involve teaching, research, and engaging in extra-curricular and recruitment activities. The position is for an initial three-year contract, renewable upon mutual agreement. The teaching load is negotiable, depending on research output and administrative duties assigned. Supervision of undergraduate research projects is encouraged, and options to teach other courses of interest are available.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Mathematics from an internationally recognized, accredited university. Applicants should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experience in higher education and a proven record of consistent, high-quality scholarly activity.

Almaty, Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is located in the heart of Eurasia, with critical commercial inroads bridging Asia and Europe. Kazakhstan's dynamically changing economic, social, educational, and cultural environment provides incredible opportunities for significant and original research.

Compensation

Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after-tax compares favorably with net salaries in Western countries. Limited on-campus housing is available to rent. In addition to salary, a benefits package includes healthcare, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, and a relocation allowance. New faculty members have a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available. The salary will be subject to a net 10% income tax deduction.

  • A cover letter that indicates the position applied for, how you meet the qualifications requirements, course(s) you can teach, and salary expectations in Kazakhstani currency (KZT) gross.
  • Applicants are encouraged to include evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., student evaluations, teaching philosophy) and a list of publications and/or ongoing research projects.
  • Shortlisted candidates are required to submit names and contact details of two referees.
