The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time Instructor- Advanced Manufacturing / Mechatronics at our Waller Campus.

Job Summary

To perform the day-to-day operations of the instructional program. To teach courses as scheduled.

Principal Accountabilities

• Provide instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations.
• Demonstrate a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
• Maintain access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication.
• Prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution.
• Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
• Advise students in academic matters.
• Evaluate student performance through a variety of means to measure progress while informing students in a timely manner.
• Assist in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives.
• Provide recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Heads, and Curriculum Resource Teams regarding curriculum.
• Demonstrate a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
• Provide information requested of all faculty.
• Submit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions/departments.
• Exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities.
• Possess a passion for teaching community college students.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and orally.
• Attend college orientation and required institutional meetings.
• Responsible for other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Education: Associate's degree or higher in a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: Three (3) years of industry work experience in the subject area.
• Teaching: No prior teaching experience is required (onboarding provided).
• Technical Proficiency: Must have industry experience in several of the following:
  • Basic electricity and electronics, robotics, micro-processors.
  • Instrumentation, digital logic, industrial motor controls.
  • Hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and mechanical drives.
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and AC/DC drives.
  • Machinery installation, industrial troubleshooting, and safety.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.

Preferred Experience and Training

• Teaching experience at the college or secondary level.
• Online teaching experience.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
• Five (5) years of industry work experience in the subject area.
• Industry-based certifications.
• Bilingual capabilities.

Physical Requirements

• Must have the physical capability to effectively use and demonstrate equipment trainers used for advanced manufacturing.
• Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
• Must be capable of walking, standing, and bending for 40% of the time.

Work hours: All full-time faculty positions at Blinn College require an on-campus presence of 40 hours per week during regular business hours.

This is a 12 month, benefits eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full-time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits. Leave time includes 16 hours personal each year and 8 hours sick leave for each month of contract. Paid leave is provided for college designated holidays, spring break, thanksgiving and Christmas break (approx. 25 days per year).
