10-Month Tenure Track Position
COMPENSATION:
Initial salary placement ranges from $67,886 to $106,308, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $142,425.

Basic Functions
Representative Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach scheduled classes on-campus and in-person, hold scheduled office hours, and perform related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrating knowledge of and ability to appraise the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students, as well as sensitivity to the needs, problems and challenges associated with the diversity of the community college student population.
- Participate in assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, Program Review, Curriculum Development.
- Creating a learning environment that fosters student success, using different teaching modalities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
- Participating in curriculum development and revision, and establishing program outcomes and assessment, including working with program advisory committee to address the needs of the community and update the curriculum.
- Participating in college governance through department, division and college committee service work, and participating in department activities.
- Integrating the latest research and utilizing a variety of teaching/learning strategies including the use of technology to promote student learning and assess learning outcomes.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's in African American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian American Studies, Native American Studies, or American Indian Studies OR Master's in Ethnic Studies OR the equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teaching experience in Ethnic Studies at the Community College level.
- Education and teaching experience in a wide array of the Ethnic Studies curriculum, including but not limited to: Introduction to Ethnic Studies, African American Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian American Studies and Native American Studies.
- Promote the success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials and effective teaching methodologies.
- Experience in teaching using Canvas and/or other online learning platforms.
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes, Program Learning Outcomes, and Program Review.
Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Office, classroom, lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations.
Knowledge and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Knowledge of developing course syllabi
- Knowledge of fostering inclusive environments for student learning
- Knowledge of integrating accessible practices into course design and teaching strategies
- Knowledge and ability to teach and support students across multiple modalities including, online, hybrid, remote, HyFlex, and correspondence while maintaining engagement and accessibility.
- Knowledge and ability to maintain compliance with all third-party accrediting bodies by keeping required credentials, certifications, and regulatory standards current when applicable.
ABILITY TO:
- Ability to collaborate with others on projects for the department/college/community.
- Ability to balance teaching schedule, mentor students, and work on projects for the department/college/community.
- Ability to develop and provide instructional curriculum that demonstrates innovation and full inclusion with specific attention to diversity.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility while operating effectively in an environment of change.
