Full Time Lecturer, Communication

The Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana State University invites applications for a full-time, one year, non-tenure-track Lecturer position in Communication - Public Speaking/Generalist, to begin Fall 2026.

Required Relevant Education & Experience:

• Master's in Communication or related field
• Significant experience teaching public speaking/introduction to public communication at the college level
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching

The duties in this role may include:

• Primarily teach introduction to public speaking, a core first-year foundational studies course for all undergraduates. Qualified candidates may have the opportunity to teach other courses that serve the department's communication curriculum.
• Provide instruction for 5 in-person courses a semester. Full time lecturers teach a 5-5 course load across fall and spring semesters.
• Assess student work and provide constructive and timely feedback on how to improve students' content knowledge, critical thinking skills, research abilities, and oral and written communication skills, etc.
• Mentor first-year undergraduate students to successfully acclimate to the College.
• Build, maintain and keep current course Canvas sites.
• Hold office hours.
• Attend College workshops and professional development opportunities related to the first-year curriculum; complete campus-wide training required by the Offices of Academic Affairs and Human Resources.

Basic Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Communication
• Significant experience teaching public speaking/introduction to public communication at the college level
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching

Job Summary: Full-Time Lecturer will teach 1-5 courses of COMM 101 or any other courses that assigned.
