"Full-time Lecturer in Signal Processing & Machine Learning"

The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Signal Processing & Machine Learning. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is advantageous. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes.

Teaching Responsibilities

In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) program. The expected workload is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals 45 minutes). Teaching should reflect current research methods and results, and comprises lectures on the following modules:

• Analog Signals and Systems (45AH)
• Digital Signals & Systems (45AH)
• Machine Learning (45AH)
• Operating Systems/Computer Architecture (45AH)
• Computer Vision/Image Processing (45AH)
• Software Engineering (45AH)

These courses are subject to change based on program needs and agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean. Courses may require conducting laboratory activities and/or advising student projects. The holder is also responsible for supervising bachelor's and master's theses and mentoring PhD students.

Research Responsibilities

As a faculty member, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the scientific profile of VGU through innovation in basic and applied research in Signal Processing, Data Analytics and Machine Learning, and Deep Learning/Computer Vision, along with knowledge in Artificial Intelligence and Database Management Systems. The ability to secure externally funded research projects is desirable.

Administrative Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the ECE program by participating in administrative, marketing, and other public activities in consultation with the Academic Coordinator and German partner universities. They should also contribute to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to bodies such as the Faculty Council and Academic Senate.

Qualification

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Communications & Signal Processing, Data Science and Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. A current title of Professor is a plus, as is experience with the German higher education system. Other requirements include:

• An outstanding academic record with a focus on Analog and Digital Signal Processing, Machine Learning, or related areas;
• Knowledge in Software Engineering, Communications Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence;
• Strong track record of research activities and publications in international peer-reviewed journals;
• Proven teaching experience with self-motivation and passion for teaching and research;
• Experience in industry is advantageous;
• Proven excellent English proficiency (e.g., IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 84 iBT, or equivalent).
