Full-time Professor in GHG Emissions Quantification and Modeling
The Global Critical Zone Science Chair at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for a full-time professor position in GHG emissions quantification and modeling (open rank). The successful applicant will conduct research aiming to understand the impact of different conservation agricultural practices, including 4Rs, on GHG emissions. The research should guide the design of sustainable cropping systems that lower GHG emissions and sequester organic carbon in soils. It should combine practices to ensure low GHG emissions and soil organic carbon sequestration, making agriculture a tool for climate action, and create reliable certifications like carbon credits and sustainability certifications.
The research program should address the role of P (particularly P limitation) on GHG emissions and soil organic carbon, using modeling expertise to improve carbon sequestration and decrease emissions in P-deficient soils. Duties include advising students and postdocs, teaching graduate courses, supporting Chair activities, and collaborating with university departments.
Key Duties:
- Initiate and lead research projects in environmental stoichiometry.
- Generate external research funds.
- Establish international collaborations.
- Supervise students and develop teaching materials.
- Publish in high-impact journals.
- Teach on GHG measurements, behavior, modeling, and biogeochemical cycling.
- Translate knowledge into management practices.
- Stay updated on environmental science and IPCC developments.
- Organize datasets and support long-term trials.
- Travel for fieldwork in Africa and partner visits.
- Support the Chair's goals.
Candidate Criteria:
- PhD in environmental or atmospheric science.
- At least 2 years of postdoctoral experience, preferably international.
- High publication record (at least 10 in the last 3 years).
- Leadership in GHG studies.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Skilled in field and lab work.
- Good funding record.
