Funeral Service Instructor(s) - Cape Cod Community College
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Funeral Service Instructor(s) will teach any one of the courses in the Funeral Service Program according to ABFSE accreditation requirements. The Funeral Service Instructor(s) will teach in-person from the Bridgewater Campus through hyflex technology (students in-person and via zoom simultaneously). Classes will be offered during the Spring semester (January 15 - May 15, 2026) on weekdays (Monday-Friday) at various times, including day and evening options.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
- Select and develop appropriate materials and technology for class use.
- Assess student progress related to defined student outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an ABFSE accredited funeral service or mortuary science program.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Maintain current and active licenses with Massachusetts's Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers as a Funeral Director and Embalmer if teaching in person or in your state of residence if teaching remote.
- Three years of current practice experience in the field of funeral service/embalming.
- Skill in implementing active and collaborative learning strategies.
- Skill in measuring student learning outcomes and assessments, evaluating course efficacy, and improving student learning.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree.
- Prior college-level teaching experience in an ABFSE accredited funeral service or mortuary science program.
- Evidence of innovative use of evolving instructional technologies in the classroom, and use of learning management systems.
- Experience, appreciation, and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting and to the mission and the goals of a community college.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale; Part-time, non-benefited. MCCC Unit Position.
