Gatehouse Attendant
The Gatehouse Attendant greets community members and visitors in a friendly, helpful manner. Provide information such as directions, maps, brochures, etc. Provide a one-day parking pass for visitors attending special events or utilizing resources such as the library. At designated times, the Gatehouse Attendant will stop all vehicles, identify occupants, and make sure they have proper ID and a guest pass. The Gatehouse Attendant will report all violations and suspicious people and vehicles to Campus Police.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Must possess excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the community.
- Ability to speak clearly and distinctly when communicating in person, on the telephone, and via two-way radio.
- Must provide a positive, enthusiastic professional image, including wearing the approved uniform. Must maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Ability to exercise discretion in handling difficult situations. Must deal tactfully with others.
- Ability to maintain a calm manner in stressful and emergencies.
- Must exercise sound judgment.
- Must be able to conduct oneself on an independent level as well as work with others.
- Must possess discretion and the ability to keep all records, communications, and other information relative to the nature of the department’s work in absolute confidence.
- Reports to work on time and maintains regular attendance.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be required.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Education & Experience
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Experience in a customer-service-related field is preferred.
