Your Role on the Team
Under general supervision and in addition to the full range of operational duties, incumbents are assigned responsibility to design, administer, and evaluate specialized counseling programs; design and conduct ongoing research programs; or serve as the designated experts, consultants, or sources of specialized knowledge withing the genetic counseling profession.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required:
- Possess excellent genetic counseling and psychosocial skills to counsel individuals and/or families in a sensitive and confidential manner
- Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
- Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
- Ability to interact appropriately with referring providers
- Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Board certification in genetic counseling by the American Board of Medical Genetics
- Licensure or eligibility for genetic counseling license in the state of California.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
- Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail in both areas is very important.
