Why The Role Matters:

UNSW is looking to fill x2 Gifted Education Facilitator positions. These roles play a key part within the Faculty of Arts, Design, & Architecture in supporting the success of the ADA Short Courses portfolio. Working with the Senior Project Officer GERRIC, the role will coordinate the online and in-person delivery of a range of a range of gifted -focused short courses for teachers and parents including the Mini-COGE. In addition, the role will support curriculum design, volunteer training, and student wellbeing in the GERRIC Student Programs. The role reports to the Senior Project Officer – GERRIC within the Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture and supports the Manager, Short Courses.

Two positions available:
Gifted Education Facilitator – Part Time (21 hours)
Gifted Education Facilitator – Part Time (28 hours)

Accountabilities:(please review the Position Description for a full list of Accountabilities)

  • Facilitate pre-designed professional development workshops (both online and in-person), including presentation and learning facilitation of content, reviewing students’ development tasks and providing constructive feedback.
  • Moderate and manage in-person and online learning spaces (e.g. Open LMS, Zoom chats, breakout conversations).
  • Contribute to the cycle of continuous improvement through compiling evaluation data.
  • Maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders in schools and other client organisations.
  • Use knowledge of curriculum engagement and differentiation to ensure quality delivery as well as support students in achieving learning outcomes across the GERRIC Student Programs.
  • Collaborate on the creation of new programs under the direction of senior academic and professional staff.
  • Support the Senior Project Officer, GERRIC with other aspects of Student Programs (facilitators and volunteers’ recruitment and training, scholarships).
  • If required, deliver short bespoke presentations on aspects of gifted education under the direction of academic staff.

Skills and Experience:To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in teaching education and GIFTED education with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience, ideally in a teaching environment.
  • Proven experience designing, developing and delivering gifted classes or training online and in person.
  • Prior experience teaching gifted students and/or coordinating gifted programs • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated commitment to staying current with emerging technologies and applying them effectively in professional settings.
  • Advanced level of computer literacy and skills in Microsoft Office applications, and experience with LMS.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
