Position overview

The University Library is part of the Scholarly Information Services (SIS) division within the Research and Innovation Portfolio. The University Library is a key piece of collection infrastructure for researchers and students.

The Collection Access and Discovery functional area of the Library manages acquisitions, access, systems, metadata and digital scholarship. Digital Scholarship services include digitisation of ANU collections, management of the institutional repository Open Research and Data Repository Data Commons, and geographic information system (GIS) services and support. CartoGIS Services is responsible for providing high level advice, guidance and support in the design, development, production and implementation of cartographic and geographic information systems (GIS) research practices across the University for research, education and outreach purposes. CartoGIS Services aims to raise awareness of the application of GIS through the development of a community of scholars in which geospatial analysis and visualisation are used to inform trans-disciplinary research and education.

The GIS Specialist will promote the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology in ANU research by delivering a suite of GIS training modules and working with the Asia Pacific Map Collection.

Classification: ANU Officer 6/7 (Administration)
Salary package: $98,387 - $113,252 plus 17% superannuation
Term: Full-Time, Fixed Term (Until 14 June 2026)
