Global Work-Based Learning Officer

About Us

The University of East London (UEL) is a vibrant and diverse institution located in the heart of East London. Guided by our ambitious Vision 2028 strategy, we are transforming education to deliver meaningful impact for students, graduates and communities. Our goal is to be the UK’s leading careers-focused and enterprising university, preparing students not only for the jobs of the future, but to help shape them through sustainable and inclusive innovation.

Careers and Student Enterprise (CaSE) is the careers, employability and enterprise nucleus of UEL. Our mission is to support every student to succeed academically, develop future-focused skills and build direct pathways into employment. Innovation and creativity are central to our approach, and we use cutting-edge research and technology to improve progression, retention and graduate outcomes.

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and globally minded Global Work-Based Learning Officer to join the Careers and Student Enterprise team.

In this role, you will support students to access international work-based learning opportunities, helping them develop the skills, confidence and cultural awareness required to thrive in global environments. You will build and maintain strong relationships with international employers and partners, promote global opportunities to students, and guide them through the full preparation, application and placement process.

You will also coordinate key administrative and compliance processes, monitor placements, and ensure that all activity is delivered safely, inclusively and in line with university and regulatory requirements. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines student support, partnership development and operational coordination.

For internal applicants, this post will be offered as a secondment for the duration of the fixed-term contract.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

You’ll be well-suited to this role if you bring:

  • Experience supporting students, graduates or early-career professionals
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with diverse audiences
  • An interest in global mobility, international education or work-based learning
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with external partners
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and strong attention to detail
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice

Benefits Package

At UEL, we believe that a great role is about more than just a salary. It’s about the complete package, including our outstanding work environment and inclusive culture.

We offer a genuinely competitive salary, dependent on experience (DOE), and a range of excellent benefits.
