The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.

We are looking for a research assistant who will undertake the day-to-day delivery and administration of the Early Psychosis Research Group multi-centre research projects, majorly supporting the SINAPPS2 trial. SINAPPS2 is a randomised double-blinded placebo controlled clinical trial of investigational medicinal products testing the efficacy and safety of immunotherapy (IVIG and rituximab) in people with acute psychosis and anti-neuronal membrane antibodies.

Remote working is limited as the post requires face-to-face training, visits to study participants and sites, and office-based preparations for visits and assessments and management of confidential documentation on-site.

About the Role

The post is funded for 2 years and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.

You will support the delivery of key research studies, including the SINAPPS2 trial, by recruiting and assessing participants, managing data, and coordinating day-to-day study activities. Working closely with investigators, NHS partners, and mental health services, you will contribute to project planning, data collection and analysis, and the preparation of publications and reports. The role also involves maintaining research documentation and representing the team at external meetings.

About You

You will hold a first degree in psychology or another related subject with relevant experience. You will have demonstrable experience of research in NHS mental health services and working experience with patients with severe mental health illness, their families and NHS clinical teams.

With a wide range of IT skills and advance use of Excel, you will have demonstrable excellent data management skills including assisting with complex and large data-sets and online surveys.

Experience of contributing to research publications and working in a research team would be desirable.
