Graduate Assistant for Legacy League (Beg Fall 2026)
Job Summary
The responsibilities for this position include the following:
- 50% Plan, implement, and market programming activities for Legacy League Scholars (i.e., social and educational programs, peer mentoring program, community service, social media) to establish a sense of placemaking and student success among LL Scholars.
- 30% Advise/counsel Legacy League scholars (personal, social, academic, cultural) to ensure their success as UWG students.
- 10% Assist Legacy League Coordinator with recruitment and development of mentors
- 10% Assist with and support DMA activities including, but not limited to, the year-long Legacy League Learning Community that includes the XIDS 2002 Fall class, presentations, fall/spring semester events, and administrative requirements.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous student leadership experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds.
- Good attitude and pleasant demeanor.
- Ability to interact in a positive manner with a variety of individuals.
- Must be responsible and able to exercise good judgment.
- An appreciation for the vibrancy and benefits of our multicultural society.
Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month
- A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.
