The College was established by referendum in 1965 and opened September 1967. It is named for Dr. William Rainey Harper, a pioneer in the junior college movement in the United States and the first president of the University of Chicago.
Harper College is now one of the nation’s premier community colleges and one of the largest, serving approximately 29,000 students annually in Chicago’s northwest suburbs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Requirements: To apply for this position, you must be a current Harper College student, enrolled in at least six credits per semester (three for summer).
Experience Requirements: The successful candidate must be able to maintain the confidentiality of the department.
Schedule Information: Will determine schedule based on the student’s availability. Must have some availability to work during the following hours: Monday-Thursday: 8:00-7:00 pm, Friday: 8:00-4:30 pm, and two Saturday mornings during final registration week.
Total Hours: 20 per week.
JOB DESCRIPTION
General Function: Provide general assistance as determined by the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides high quality customer service: Greets visitors, answers telephone calls, and provides accurate information as appropriate.
- Schedules and maintains appointments in scheduling software to facilitate 24/7 access to advising and orientation appointments in the student portal.
- Delivers individual and group orientation presentations.
- Guides students on campus tours and My Harper portal tours.
- Assists with call campaigns.
