Graduate Assistant for the Department of Special Education (Beg Fall 2026)
Job Summary
Key responsibilities for this position include the following:
- 40% ¿ UWG Live Session Facilitation & Support
- Assist in the planning, setup, and facilitation of case-based mixed-reality simulations in UWGLive for the Department of Special Education Courses. The simulation lab is an integral component of many of our courses; however, the simulation sessions are small-group synchronous sessions. This position would allow for more tailored experiences for students.
- Facilitate simulation sessions involving student, teacher, and adult avatars (e.g., collaborative classroom, parent/teacher conferences) per UWGLive protocol.
- Support participants (graduate students, teacher candidates) by providing orientation, managing scenario flow, monitoring interactions, and facilitating debrief discussions.
- Assist faculty with facilitating scoring rubrics, feedback forms, and technical logistics (e.g., digital room setup, avatar control).
- 40% ¿ ECHO360/GoReact Facilitation & Support
- Manage and curate digital recordings and analytics in Echo360 to enhance instructional feedback loops.
- Support faculty and students in using GoReact for skill demonstration, peer review, and self-reflection within clinical and teaching simulations.
- Create tutorial materials and short guides for effectively using both platforms.
- Compile usage data (engagement rates, feedback frequency) to support continuous improvement of course delivery.
- Collaborate with the College of Education¿s instructional technology team to pilot new integration features or course templates.
- Provide onboarding and troubleshooting support for faculty and students using Echo360 and GoReact.
- 20% ¿ Departmental Events & Placemaking
- Assist in the coordination of logistics for departmental events, including advisory board meetings, donor events, student engagement initiatives, and GaCEC partnerships.
- Strengthen connections between students, faculty, and community partners.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
- Hold a Bachelor¿s degree from an accredited institution.
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrolled in a College of Education Graduate Program (or related field)
- Proficient in technology applications, such as Excel, Canva, Word
Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month
- A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- This position is primarily in-person.
