Graduate Assistant for UREC: Event Operations (Beg Fall 2026)
Job Summary
This duties for this position include the following:
- Event Management (50%)
- Manage and coordinate up to 20 undergraduate Event Management staff members to be able to successfully execute all events, meetings, and any other programs hosted in the Campus Center
- Assist the Coordinator of Events and Facilities with the scheduling and confirming of 1,700+ facility reservations annually using Event Management Software (EMS)
- Coordinate Campus Center walk-throughs with faculty, staff, students, and third-party constituents to determine event needs, scope, and event specifics each week
- Provide evening and weekend supervision as needed largescale and campus-wide events
- Supervision (30%)
- Hire, manage, train, and evaluate an Event Management staff of approximately 20 student employees
- Facilitate monthly staff meetings and quarterly in-services trainings to enhance the services and knowledge of the Event Management staff
- Provide professional development to the Event Management staff through the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies
- Administrative Responsibilities (20%)
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the area budget of approximately $90,000, particularly in the areas of student wages, operating supplies such as A/V equipment repair and replacement, event management supplies, event revenues, etc.
- In conjunction with the Coordinator of Events, complete a monthly budget reconciliation for student wages and operational expenses and a monthly report highlighting updates, areas for improvement, personnel training and development, and other statistical information
- Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly divisional meetings
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
- Hold a Bachelor¿s degree from an accredited institution.
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years¿ collegiate recreation program experience;
- Motivated, enthusiastic, and attentive to detail
- Ability to work with a diverse group
- Experience utilizing EMS and/or other recreation management software
- Licensed driver
Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month
- A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.
