Graduate Research Assistant for Prison Education (Beg Fall 2026)
Job Summary
The responsibilites for this position include the following:
- Literature Reviews, Annotated Bibliographies, etc. 35%
- Data Collection, Management, and Analysis 35%
- General Assistance to Dr. Parsons 30%
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
- Bachelor's Degree in a social science, including economics
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
In addition, to be considered for the Prison Education Research Assistantship, students must have
- successfully passed (B or higher) a social science methodology course
- successfully passed (B or higher) a social science or math statistics course
- experience with evaluating previous literature, managing data, data collection, and data analysis
- clean driver's license
- reliable transportation or live on campus/within walking distance to campus
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrolled in the Master of Public Administration or Master of Business Administration
- Licensed driver
Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month
- A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Requires lifting and carrying materials and supplies, including books.
- Ability to drive
- Some traveling required. In the case it is needed for this position to drive, a university vehicle will be provided or mileage reimbursed.
