Job Summary
With moderate institutional and departmental knowledge, this position works within a graduate program(s) to coordinate a large population of students regarding their academic planning and progress.
This position will assist the University in promoting a climate of respect and support that cultivates and sustains transformative practices by forging spaces of possibility where people feel safe, valued, welcomed, and respects all students in their quest for individual success through graduate degree programs.
Responsibilities
- Performs administrative tasks to support graduate students. Activities include, but not limited to, record-keeping, program of study coordination, scheduling, course-planning, graduation tracking, and records of advising activities and student interactions
- As a member of the College of Social Work Academic Advising Team, advises admitted MSW students. Meets with students to provide information and guidance on academic-related issues, such as graduation requirements, course planning and registration, and permission codes. Assists students with developing a working relationship with faculty in the assigned program.
- Actively participates in campus-based professional development communities, including but not limited to GAPA or other relevant campus-based organizations that directly impact their position. Duties include sub-committee participation.
- Collects and disseminates information to students, faculty and departments about changes in degree requirements or University policies and adjusts advising strategies as appropriate.
- May participate in search committees for new hires in department, including both staff and faculty roles.
- Participates in programming communities for students within their area. Including, but not limited to activities such as overseeing a mentoring program, student organization, etc.
- May advise on graduate committee development.
- Provides curriculum feedback at the program level. May submit department curriculum changes to university-wide curriculum tracking. May assist MSW concentration chairs with concentration meetings, students' concentration choice forms, and concentration-related updates
- Participates in outreach and recruitment activities for potential graduate student candidates.
- Participates in events management related to graduate programs, graduate student orientation, graduate conferences, and professional development events. Assists with coordination of CSW program-related orientation/transition events
- With increased institutional knowledge, acts as a resource for graduate student roles and is a liaison between the department and the Graduate School on campus. Collaborates with CSW stakeholders, as well as campus partners, to ensure students are accurately advised and supported throughout the phases of their program

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
2 years' of related experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
