Salary Range

$50,000.00 depending on qualifications.

Essential Functions

The University of Texas Permian Basin welcomes applications for an Outreach Coordinator for the Students' Thoughtful Response to Educational Attainment and Mentorship (STREAM) Grant. Project STREAM (Students' Thoughtful Response to Educational Attainment and Mentorship) is funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant and is designed to support UTPB students enrolled in teacher preparation pathways. This position will support the efforts to strengthen outreach, recruitment, and enrollment within educator preparatory pipelines at the University. This is a full time, on campus position. A remote schedule is not possible.

  • Coordinates all Project STREAM outreach functions, which may include, but are limited to: external prospect outreach, current student outreach, the development of relationships with K-12 districts, and the development of relationships with community entities from which potential students are recruited.
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for members of the local community and local school districts desiring information about the STREAM project, as well as resources generated from student outreach efforts.
  • Develops outreach strategies to support the grant's objectives, including, but not limited to: public programs; high school presentations and high school student programming; UTPB student prospect programming; tour and docent programs; and collaborative projects with UTPB and community organizations.
  • Collaborates with UTPB Welcome Center and UTPB Admissions to provide orientation services and programming to current and future EPP students.
  • Assists in the creation of interpretive materials and educational resources.
  • Assists in the creation and development of data tracking measures aimed at improving, strengthening: teacher preparation pathway outreach and recruitment; teacher certification exam pass rates and teacher credentialing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social/behavioral science, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of work experience with students in Higher Education.
  • Demonstrated initiative with the ability to take ownership of projects and have exceptional follow-through.
  • Must have experience in event planning, working with K-12 students, and outreach experience.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, students, and the public.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse, nontraditional, first-generation student population.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Fluent in Spanish, both written and oral).
  • Demonstrated evidence of self-motivation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to proactively problem solve.
  • Practice sound judgment, tact, and the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • K-12 or Higher Ed teaching experience.
  • Experience implementing PeopleSoft systems and the Canvas Learning Management System.

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

  • Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.
  • Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.
  • Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
  • Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.
  • Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation.
