The Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Faculty of Law is seeking to recruit a part-time (0.5 FTE) Grants & Finance Officer, supporting all aspects of pre- and post-award research and financial administration at the Centre.

Reporting to the Centre Manager, the postholder will support the Centre Director and Principal Investigators (PIs) holding grants. The postholder will also process day-to-day financial transactions in accordance with the University’s financial regulations, in close consultation with the finance team at the Faculty of Law. The post involves contact with a wide variety of people, within the Centre, the Faculty and externally, requiring frequent communication and opportunities for collaborative work.

The postholder should have proven experience of research grants administration, or equivalent administrative experience; capacity to understand a range of funder rules and University financial requirements, to apply these accurately and convey them to colleagues in an effective way; proven experience of financial administration within a complex organisation, with evidence of high numeracy (ideally grade 6 or above at GCSE Mathematics, or equivalent); demonstrable skills in summarising, analysing and understanding financial data, able to identify anomalies and produce accurate work, even under pressure; excellent IT skills including the ability to manipulate and present complex data using spreadsheets and be able to communicate effectively in person and online, with a people in a variety of roles, and occasionally working in different time zones. Experience of UKRI and/or European research administration and completion of an AAT or similar accounting course is desirable.

This is part time (0.5 FTE or 18.25 hours per week), fixed term post for 24 months, subject to review after 12 months. The postholder will be based at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Manor Road Building, Oxford, OX1 3UQ although possible to agree a hybrid working arrangement with the Centre Manager.
