The Sponsored Awards Management team within the Office of Research is seeking to hire a Grants Coordinator II position to join our team. The Grants Coordinator II will assist Sponsored Program Administrators in providing administrative and management services related to the acquisition and management of externally funded programs and the University of South Carolina.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Typically holds a high school diploma or GED. Requires 2 or more years of job related experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong knowledge of public and business administration principles, budgeting practices, and financial data processing for sponsored projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Skilled in building effective working relationships and applying government and University of South Carolina policies and procedures.
- Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, handle stress professionally, and make sound decisions independently.
Job Duties
Coordinates the intake and review of subaward requests to ensure required documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with institutional and sponsor requirements. (20%)
Prepares subaward agreements and amendments using established templates, coordinates internal review and execution workflows, tracks status, and escalates non-standard terms or complex issues to appropriate staff. (25%)
Maintains accurate subaward records by entering and updating agreement data and documentation in institutional systems, ensuring proper retention, data integrity, and audit readiness. (20%)
Provides administrative support and guidance to principal investigators, departments, subrecipients, and internal offices. Responds to routine inquiries, providing status updates, and coordinating with relevant units to resolve issues. (20%)
Supports compliance and reporting requirements for sponsored projects by collecting and verifying data for subrecipient risk assessments and institutional reporting, including FFATA and invention reporting, and coordinating timely submission of required information. (15%)
