Graphic Designer
JOB SUMMARY
The UConn Library seeks an impactful Graphic Designer to create marketing content that engages UConn students and the wider university, including faculty, staff, donors, and the extended community. The Graphic Designer creates thoughtful and visually compelling materials using modern methods that attract and engage students in library services, resources, outreach, and events. This position directly supports student success for UConn’s undergraduate and graduate populations through the creation of visually compelling, impactful, and memorable graphics that attract all UConn community members to the UConn Library in support of research, scholarship, teaching, and learning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs, creates, and edits graphic and visual assets for the UConn Library in both digital and print formats, which include emails, social media, print collateral, advertisements, promotional items, and physical and digital marketing platforms.
- Actively collaborates with UConn Library staff to create and edit marketing materials and educational resources across all formats. Serves as a consultant to staff and researchers regarding the most effective design to produce desired outreach. Serves as the final authority of staff and student employees-created outreach materials to ensure standards of quality are met.
- Actively manages the identity and branding of the UConn Library. Serves as a resource to the Communication & Marketing unit and Library staff in areas of identity management and branding, including consultation with University Communications when necessary.
- Research current and emerging ideas and materials presented for design or illustration and make decisions regarding the proper visual interpretation of the UConn Library brand.
- Responsible for file management of UConn Library print and digital media.
- Serves as a Communication & Marketing Student Supervisor.
- Provides expertise in the creation of signage and design elements for the UConn Library’s physical and virtual spaces.
- Prepares documents and designs using methods and techniques suited to specific reproduction processes for final use and to the publisher’s specifications.
- Recommends ways to meet staff and library administration’s needs within resource and budgetary limits. Recommends solutions to design problems and explains finished deliverables to stakeholders. Collaborates with writers, editors and other production staff to produce a coordinated finished product.
- Provides project management on behalf of the Communication & Marketing unit.
