Position Summary:
The Graphic Designer at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is responsible for developing visually compelling, brand-aligned creative assets that support the Colleges marketing, recruitment and communications initiatives. This position produces high-quality print and digital materials that strengthen the Colleges visual identity and advance institutional goals. The Graphic Designer ensures all materials meet established brand standards and comply with federal accessibility regulations. This role requires strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The Graphic Designer collaborates closely with members of the Marketing and Communications department to support integrated marketing campaigns across all platforms.

Required Education/Experience:
- Associate degree in graphic design, digital media, visual communications, marketing or a closely related field from an accredited college.
- Two years of professional graphic design experience is required.

- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong knowledge of graphic design principles, typography, color theory and layout composition.
- Knowledge of accessible design standards and federal digital accessibility requirements.
- Understanding of print production processes and digital file preparation.
- Experience developing creative assets that enhance brand awareness and audience engagement.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in layout and production.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Capable of providing exceptional customer service across multiple platforms, including in person, by telephone and through email.

Special Instructions to Applicants:
A cover letter and portfolio are required for consideration. The portfolio must include 8-10 professional design samples demonstrating a range of print and digital work. At least one multi-page print piece (brochure, report, viewbook, magazine, etc.) and one digital campaign asset (social graphics, digital ads, email graphics, etc.) must be included. Candidates should provide brief descriptions outlining the objective, audience and their specific role for each project. Examples that demonstrate knowledge of accessible design practices are strongly encouraged. Submissions without a cover letter and a portfolio will not be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a steward of the Colleges visual identity, ensuring consistency and integrity across all platforms and materials.
- Design and produce print and digital marketing materials, including brochures, advertisements, direct mail pieces, executive-level reports, complex multi-page publications, signage and campaign assets.
- Develop layout concepts, typography and visual treatments that align with institutional branding standards and translate strategic messaging and data into visually compelling, accessible designs.
- Integrate accessible design principles into all creative work to ensure equitable access for all College stakeholders and compliance with federal regulations.
- Review and proof materials for visual accuracy, brand consistency and production quality.
- Prepare and package files for print production and coordinate with vendors as needed.
- Manage a high volume of concurrent design projects while maintaining quality, brand consistency and on-time delivery.
- Maintain organized project files and adhere to established project management workflows and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with other Marketing and Communications team members and College stakeholders to support integrated marketing, enrollment and institutional initiatives.
- Assist with photography selection, image editing, visual asset preparation and the organized maintenance and archiving of marketing and communications assets.
- Stay current on design trends, accessibility standards and emerging technologies to continuously improve the Colleges visual communications.
- Support day-to-day Marketing and Communications operations and initiatives, including committee participation, event coverage, mascot activities and other duties as assigned.
