Head Coach, Swimming and Diving
Southern Connecticut State University Athletics and Recreation invite applications for the Head Coach of our Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Program. The Head Swimming and Diving Coach will provide strategic leadership for a competitive aquatics program within a university environment that promotes student engagement, athletic achievement, academic success, overall well-being, and persistence to graduation.

SCSU Athletics and Recreation
The SCSU Department of Athletics and Recreation is a NCAA Division II program, and a member of the Northeast-10 Conference. Consisting of 19 athletics teams, SCSU's outstanding program continually ranks among the top NCAA Division II programs in the nation and boasts a long record of dominance in the Northeast for both team and individual championships. The Owls rank among the top 10 nationally with over 82 individual titles and 10 team championships. SCSU had NCAA/NE10 Championship representation in over nine sports in 2025-26 and ranked among the top half of all Division II programs in the Learfield Sports Cup for the 22th straight year.

Southern Connecticut State University's Swimming and Diving program is a longstanding tradition of excellence in the pool and classroom. The program has produced numerous standout student-athletes, conference champions, and NCAA qualifiers, while maintaining a strong commitment to academic achievement and personal development.

The Position
The Head Coach of Swimming and Diving has an exciting opportunity to lead a program with a strong history and significant potential. Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, the Head Coach provides vision and leadership for all aspects of the SCSU Swimming and Diving program, with a primary focus on developing a high-quality student-athlete experience. Consistent with the values of NCAA Division II, the head coach provides a competitive athletic experience while supporting the academic success and overall, well-being of student-athletes.
Responsibilities also include recruiting, training, fiscal oversight, administrative duties, alumni engagement, fundraising, and community engagement activities. Working collaboratively with the Athletics and Recreation team, campus colleagues, alumni and other stakeholders, the head coach will maximize visibility for the athletics program to develop university spirit and pride.
This position is a full-time, 10-month contractual position.
Position Requirements
Master's degree preferred and eight (8) years of appropriate professional level experience are required. The head coach must demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to following the letter and spirit of NCAA, NE10 Conference and University rules and regulations. The head coach must exhibit an ability to effectively work with a diverse population of student-athletes and coaches in a cultural climate that celebrates diversity. The successful candidate will be required to complete the NCAA certification exam. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
