Supervision Exercised: Will supervise student employees within the area of recreation, intramural and club athletics. May supervise personnel within the department of athletics. Will supervise Parenzo Gymnasium. Will supervise assistant coaches for the field hockey program
Salary: $50,500.00-$52,700.00
General Statement of Duties
Will serve as Head Coach of the Field Hockey Program, including all aspects of recruiting, scouting, practice and game preparation, athlete development, and supervision of assistant coaches in compliance with departmental, conference, and NCAA regulations. Will plan, implement, and oversee the University's Intramural and Recreation Program, including scheduling, programming, facility use, and supervision of student staff and officials. Will manage program operations including budgeting, payroll, reporting, and oversight of intramural boards and related administrative functions. Will also support departmental initiatives, facility management, and additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director within the scope of professional expertise.

Essential:
- Will perform all duties as the Head Coach of the Field Hockey Program. This includes but is not limited to recruiting, scouting, practice planning, strategy and teaching, organizing a training program, budget management, fundraising, scheduling, academic oversight, team supervision, hiring and supervising assistant coaches all while following departmental, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Will organize, implement and direct the total Intramural-Recreation Program for all university students and staff.
- Is responsible for recruitment, training and supervision of Intramural office, program and activity personnel, including but not limited to supervisors and officials for sports and activities.
- Will operate the Intramural/Recreation Program with the given yearly budget and be responsible for weekly payrolls as outlined by University policy and other receipts dealing with and/or generated by the program.
- Will offer a yearly program that is varied and has both indoor and outdoor activities from September through May.
- Will organize and supervise the Intramural office and implement office hours conducive for students and staff needs and information.
- Will follow and implement prescribed University rules and regulations, which may concern Intramural Athletics and which may affect NCAA eligibility, and that of Westfield State University.
- May be scheduled to work home game management at various events and contests for the department.
- Will supervise and oversee facility use of Parenzo Gymnasium and other University facilities as utilized by Intramural and Club Sports.
- Will prepare annual budgets and reports for the program including yearly accurate records of all activities and questionnaires.
- Will organize and oversee student Intramural Board, which assists in overseeing the program and involved with policy and behavior decisions.
- When requested, provides a monthly report to the Athletics Director consisting of data relative to intramurals & recreation.
- Represents the University at regional and national meetings.
- At times may be asked to participate in recruitment, selection and orientation of professional staff.
- May assist the Athletic Director with off-season programs.
- May arrange maintenance and preparation of athletic fields.
- May work with other staff members of Athletics and/or Student Services in conjunction with department and/or divisional projects such as the implementation of an e-sports program.
- Will perform any duties assigned by the Athletics Director within in the area of professional competence.
- Will adhere to the professional guidelines and standards as set forth by NIRSA and ACPA organizations.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's Degree required (Master's Degree preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with coaching at the intercollegiate level.
- Demonstrated successful experience in student-athlete recruitment within a college setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of/with the NCAA and/or affiliated athletic organizations (i.e. MASCAC).
- Demonstrated experience and ability to work with staff, coaches, faculty, alumni and the community.
- Knowledge of computers and able to learn College Admin. Format
- Outstanding communication skills, especially oral.
