Head Men's Soccer Coach-Athletic Department
Lasell University located in Newton, MA, is seeking applications for the part-time position of Head Men's Soccer Coach. This is a part-time position housed in the Department of Athletics and reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Athletics.
Lasell University is a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the NCAA Division III. Lasell's 50-acre campus is located in Newton, MA, a community located ten miles west of Boston. The co-educational institution, offering professionally oriented baccalaureate and master's degree programs, has an enrollment of 1200 full-time undergraduate students.
Primary Job Responsibilities
The head coach will direct all facets of a competitive NCAA Division III men's soccer program with a special emphasis on recruitment of appropriate student-athletes; specific tasks include, but are not limited to: practice and game preparation; budgeting; academic support; fundraising; supervision of assistant coach(es); and insuring the general welfare and the development of the student-athlete. It is required that the candidate will have a complete understanding of all NCAA Division III philosophies and regulations, and will adhere to these at all times. Regular day, evening, and weekend hours are required.
Qualifications
Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level is strongly preferred. Knowledge and compliance with NCAA Division III rules required. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the developmental education of student-athletes, a strong work ethic, organizational skills, computer skills, and the ability to interact professionally within the department, the campus, and the community. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Fulfill all tasks attendant to the overall management of an intercollegiate athletic team, and do so in a manner that is consistent with the educational mission of Lasell University, and embodies the educational philosophies of the Department of Athletics and the Division of Student Affairs.
- Promote the positive development of student-athletes: academically, athletically and personally.
- Monitor academic progress of student-athletes to insure eligibility and progress towards a degree.
- Recruit student-athletes for the varsity athletic program, in accordance with Lasell University and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Guidelines.
- Coordinate all practice/game preparation for varsity program, and work with the scheduling coordinator to create a competitive playing schedule.
- Understand and adhere to all Lasell University, NCAA and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) bylaws, rules, policies and protocols.
- Provide input to the Assistant Vice President for Athletics regarding team budget, and manage budget effectively.
- Work collaboratively with all professional members of the Athletic Department, including: athletic trainers, Athletic Communications Director, and event management staff.
- Communicate effectively with a variety of populations including, prospective student-athletes and their families; Office of Undergraduate Admission; Health Services and Counseling Center.
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: Assistant coaches, and student team managers.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required by the Job:
Minimum Education level: Bachelor's Degree
Computer skills: Microsoft Office
Other Requirements of the Job: Prior coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level; knowledge of NCAA Division III guidelines; and desire to build a strong Division III program, are required.
Certification, Registration or Licensure Required by the Job:
Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required.
Physical and Visual Requirements of the Job:
Physical Effort: Average physical effort, with some handling of light weights such as: supplies or materials, on an infrequent basis (10 - 15 lbs.).
Visual: Average visual effort with infrequent exposure to visually demanding work.
Working Conditions:
Work performed in an environment requiring occasional exposure to weather extremes, fumes, odors and/or noise.
Hazards: Normally, no exposure to job hazards; probability of injury is remote.
