Head of Academic Planning and Strategy Office [Internal Applicants Only]

The University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual as the Head of Academic Planning and Strategy Office. This opportunity is open to current University of Cambridge employees only.

The Head of Academic Planning and Strategy Office will be responsible for leading the University's academic planning function and overseeing the annual planning cycle, ensuring alignment with the University's strategic priorities. This will involve supporting the work of the University's Planning and Resource Committee (PRC) and working closely with Schools and Non-School Institutions to define and calibrate their short and long-term academic objectives, providing information to support critical decision making.

The Head of Academic Planning and Strategy Office will provide the University and senior colleagues, with expert and objective advice on planning and budgeting, capital planning and projects and non-financial management information and analysis. Additionally, this role will oversee the Business Information and Strategic Insights Team, to provide key management information and ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements.

The Head of Academic Planning and Strategy Office will work very closely with the Interim Head of Management Reporting to ensure that the academic and financial elements of planning remain closely aligned, working jointly to manage the Academic and Financial Planning Analysis team and define optimum reporting lines in advance of the two roles being filled on a permanent basis.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep understanding of the higher education sector and the University, with a broad range of academic, economic, financial and commercial exposure. In addition, the candidate will have extensive experience of planning and analysis, with a deep understanding of risk analysis and the associated impact on business and financial projections. Demonstrable experience of leading high performing teams, and the ability to develop strong and proactive relationships with senior stakeholders will be key.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
