Role type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term for three years.
The appointee will hold a continuing substantive appointment as a Professor within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

School: School of Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering
Salary: $236,824 p.a. (plus applicable loading) plus 17% super

As the Head of Department for Electrical & Electronic Engineering, you will have the opportunity to lead and inspire a team of academic professionals, aligning departmental goals with strategic plans to achieve excellence in teaching and research. Reporting to the Head of School, Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and inclusive culture, driving performance, and building strategic partnerships with industry and academic stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and Manage Department: Provide strategic leadership, manage resources, and foster a culture of excellence in teaching and research.
  • Drive Performance and Innovation: Develop performance targets, enhance teaching programs, and lead innovative research initiatives.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships: Engage with industry, government, and academic partners to strengthen departmental impact and collaborations.
  • Foster a Positive Culture: Promote diversity, inclusion, and safety, while mentoring staff and supporting their professional development.

You may be a great fit if:
You will be a visionary leader with a PhD in Engineering, possessing exceptional strategic and interpersonal skills to drive departmental success and foster collaborations across the university and industry. You will also ideally have the skills to strengthen teaching and research in the areas of signal processing, power systems and electronics.

You may also:
  • Be an experienced leader with a proven track record in managing complex academic environments.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Have a world-class reputation in teaching and research, aligned with the department's disciplines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and inspire interdisciplinary teams and partnerships.
  • Be acquainted with OHS regulations relevant to Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

The School of Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering undertakes teaching and research across a range of disciplines that are internationally recognised for their contribution to fundamental research.
