The Director of the University Hospital Brno and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University announces a selection procedure for the position:

Head of Institute of Medical Genetics and Genomics of the Faculty of Medicine MU and University Hospital Brno

Institute of Medical Genetics and Genomics is a joint department of the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University and Brno University Hospital. In addition to providing preventive and clinical care, the Institute is engaged in education, science, and research. In the field of education, it provides theoretical and practical training in both medical and non-medical disciplines.

The candidate for the position of Head of the Institute must be a respected expert in genetics and genomics, with experience in managing a team, conducting research in the field, and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Head of the Institute will be responsible for managing the Institute, undergraduate education of students, postgraduate education, publication activities, and coordination of the Institute's scientific and research activities. As part of the selection procedure, candidates for the position of Head of the Institute will be expected to present their vision for fulfilling the above-mentioned responsibilities.

Requirements for a declared position:

• A university degree in General Medicine or in a healthcare or related field with a focus on genetic diagnostics, or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad.
• Eligibility to independently practise medicine in the relevant specialty pursuant to Section 5 of Act No. 95/2004 Coll., or eligibility to independently practise as a non-medical healthcare professional pursuant to Section 26 of Act No. 96/2004 Coll.
• Academic degree PhD or scientific rank of CSc;
• Habilitation pursuant to the Higher Education Act, as amended; a professorial title is an advantage.
• Personal and professional qualifications for managing the department's healthcare and academic team.
• At least 5 years of experience in managing a professional or research team.
• Teaching experience and readiness to guarantee the professional subjects taught at the department.
• Scientific and publication activities in the relevant field.
• Active command of the Czech language.
• Active command of the English language.
• Good moral character and civic integrity.
• Fulfilment of prerequisites according to Act No. 451/1991 Coll. (the Lustration Act); (does not have to document persons born after 1 December 1971 and applicants from abroad).
