Head of International Student Recruitment
About the Role
We are seeking a Head of International Student Recruitment to join the Global Engagement team at Queen Mary University of London. The Global Engagement Office (GEO), part of the External Relations Directorate, is responsible for recruiting international students, promoting student mobility for short-term study opportunities, and leading Queen Mary’s international partnership initiatives.
The successful candidate will lead the International Student Recruitment team, managing staff based both in London and overseas. They will be responsible for overseeing a dynamic team and for developing and implementing innovative approaches that support the University’s international recruitment strategy.
This role involves managing staff overseas, requiring regular travel and representation of the University both internationally and within the UK.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective international student recruitment strategies.
- Manage and support a team of recruitment staff in London and a network of regional offices.
- Analyse recruitment data to inform and optimise strategies.
- Work with Marketing and Communication colleagues to ensure we deliver integrated student recruitment campaigns.
- Monitor global market trends and policy developments and advise senior stakeholders on opportunities and risks.
- Manage external stakeholders such as agents, school counsellors and other third-party representatives.
- Represent the university overseas and in the UK through sector level forums, at conferences and exhibitions.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a proven track record of success in student recruitment within higher education. You will have experience in building relationships with stakeholders, analysing data for decision-making, and leading and influencing a team of HE professionals. Key qualifications and skills include:
- A degree in a relevant field.
- Extensive leadership experience in international student recruitment.
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- An ability to influence and inspire.
About the Department
The Global Engagement Office (GEO) is a team of 40 HE professionals who support the delivery of Queen Mary's global ambitions, working closely with the VP International and as part of the External Relations directorate.
