About the opportunity
The Senior Lecturer in General Practice is a Teaching Intensive position which will have a substantial role in medical education for the Medicine Program. The appointee will be primarily involved in collaboration to co-ordinate and oversee teaching and assessment in Year 3 and coordination of the General Practice and community-based rotations associated with third year with the Launceston Clinical School.
This will be associated with a contribution to relevant areas of the school’s curriculum development and research activities. The appointee will be required to undertake administrative duties within the Tasmanian School of Medicine, particularly with respect to the General Practice rotations and teaching.
What you’ll do:
- Make a strong and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
- Undertake scholarly undergraduate (and if relevant postgraduate) coursework teaching of an exemplary quality, including unit coordination, development of teaching materials and delivery of teaching and student assessment.
- Increasingly provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding research and/or learning and teaching.
- Contribute to high-quality research of national and increasingly of international standing in the field of Medicine aligned with college research themes.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective links inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
What we’re looking for:
- Completion of recognised primary medical qualification permitting registration by the Medical Board of Australia, including in the specialty of general practice.
- Experience and demonstrated achievement in university-level teaching and learning, especially in areas related to clinical teaching and training.
- A good record of working collaboratively within a team to achieve a common goal and display the ability to work in a manner that aligns with the University's values.
- A record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining effective and productive links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.
- Clinical/industry/professional experience relevant to the position.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $178,024 comprising base salary within the range of $133,981 to $152,157 pro rata plus 17% superannuation.
