Hampton University – Sentara Community Engagement Project is currently seeking an experienced and qualified part-time Bus Driver for the Hampton University’s Health Mobile.

Examples of Duties

• Transport project personnel (faculty, students) and equipment to local community sites to perform healthcare screenings.
• Operate and safely drive Hampton University Health Mobile unit (up to 41 feet)
• Inspect the Health Mobile: prior and post trips
• Schedule maintenance and repair of mobile unit, e.g. oil changes, fuel check, fluid checks etc. with HU Vehicle services and maintain event equipment (tables, awnings, banners).
• Maintain all DOT and vehicle logs as required by law and all University documents.
• Actively document and report any malfunctions/accidents on an as needed basis.
• Perform related work as required of the project.
• Other duties as assigned

Typical Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Good Interpersonal and communication skills
• Two or more years of verifiable experience driving vehicle with a gross weight of 23,000 lbs. or more (such as a bus, RV, or delivery vehicle)
• Acceptable driving record
• Must have a CDL license with air brake endorsement.
