Heath and Safety Support Officer
We are seeking an organised and proactive Health and Safety Support Officer to join our University Health and Safety Team. As a small team of health, safety and fire professionals, we play a vital role in shaping the University’s safety culture and ensuring that health and safety remains a long-term strategic priority.
The Health and Safety Support Officer is essential to delivering a comprehensive, professional and forward‑thinking administrative service. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, adaptable and thrives in a fast‑paced environment with plenty of variety.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing high‑quality executive and administrative support to the Head of Health and Safety.
- Coordinating University-wide Health and Safety committees, including preparing documentation, minute taking and monitoring actions.
- Supporting the development and continuous improvement of processes and online content.
- Leading on training administration, first aid provision and accurate record‑keeping.
- Analysing incident data to generate clear reports and performance insights.
- Ensuring smooth operation of our systems and fostering effective working relationships across the University.
About you
This is an excellent opportunity to shape and continuously enhance the executive and administrative support provided to the Health and Safety Team. The role is well‑suited to a versatile, self‑motivated administrator with experience in a complex organisation.
You will ideally have a degree (or equivalent experience), strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and confidence in producing accurate minutes. You should be an effective communicator who is able to work independently, manage confidential information appropriately and balance multiple priorities with ease.
Strong IT skills are essential, including proficiency across Microsoft Office and experience of working with finance systems.
