Job Description:
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking to hire faculty physicians to join our talented team. Our department is committed to continuous improvement in patient care, education, research, and service. We are actively searching for individuals who can contribute to our mission of high-quality patient care, excellence in education, and the progression of science through scholarship.
In addition to direct patient care, faculty will have the opportunity to pursue academic interests such as the following:
- Teach a variety of courses within the medical school curriculum
- Educate learners within our Family Medicine residencies and fellowships
- Play a key role in the development and implementation of a new Family Medicine Residency Program at UAB Marshall Medical Center, with an anticipated launch within the next three years. Faculty will contribute to curriculum design, accreditation processes, recruitment, and mentoring of residents as the program grows.
- Conduct research and scholarly activity within an institution that had $774.5 million in grant funding in FY23, and includes potential collaborators such as Precision Medicine, the Center for Exercise Medicine, Preventive Medicine, the Lakeshore Foundation, and UAB Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC)
- Continue to develop our expertise in Precision Medicine, Value-Based Care, Leadership in Medicine, Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Digital Health, and Lifestyle & Exercise Medicine
Qualifications:
Consideration will be given to board-certified MDs or DOs for full-time positions. Positions are twelve-month, open rank, open tenure faculty positions. Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Additional qualifications for faculty involved in the Family Medicine Residency Program:
- Experience in graduate medical education and teaching residents
- Prior involvement in residency program development and accreditation processes
- Familiarity with ACGME requirements and compliance standards
- Strong commitment to mentoring and supporting resident physicians
